SERAPHINITE

SERAPHINITE (Serafina or Clinochlore) is a deep forest green to green-black with inclusions of Silvery Mica. The name Seraphinite is derived from the Latin word "seraphim" referring to angels. The allusion to angels is because of the feathery wing-like patterns made by the Silvery-white Mica contained within the stone.  The Mica inclusions have a beautiful pearly-white chatoyancy, much like Charoite. The stone is a member of the Chlorite Group of minerals ("Chloros” meaning green). It is mined in eastern Siberia, Russia, near Bratsk and Lake Baikal. Varieties of Seraphinite in yellow, red, brown, tan or white are also available, but not shown here.

CARNELIAN

CARNELIAN ONYX is a layer stone with a red base and an upper white layer. It can be either opaque or translucent, or a combination of both as shown in the stones Miriam uses. It may be best known for its wide use (along with blue lapis) in ancient Egyptian jewelry. In some of her Carnelian Collection, Miriam added Red Botswana Agate, which shows bands of red, orange, brown and white, and Fire (Cosmic) Agate which has a distinctive spotted pattern of colorations. (Some faceted Cosmic Agates have been coated with a white man-made substance that, when heated, provides a permanent "crackled" look to the facets.)

Carnelian Faceted Necklace

Stunningly faceted Carnelian gemstones are set-off by sterling silver and round faceted Cosmic (Fire) Agates. This necklace is a perfect match to the Carnelian Bracelet also shown on this page. The focal point center of the Necklace measures a total of 2.25 inches in length. The elongated, faceted Carnelians are 0.25 inches long. The two round faceted Fire Agates are just less than 0.5 inches in diameter. The total Necklace length is 21.5 inches. Carnelian & Fire Agate Necklace

Varying shaped Carnelian and ornate Bali silver accents set off these beautiful and highly faceted Fire Agates, some of which have the "crackled" feature noted by Miriam. The translucence and sparkle of these stones in the sunlight is remarkable! This necklace is a beautiful match to the Carnelian Bracelet also shown on this page. Carnelian Rectangles

Beautifully carved and beaded Bali beads accent the gorgeous Carnelian in this Necklace. The two largest Bali beads are 0.5 inches in diameters. The rectangular barrel-shaped Carnelians range from 0.75 inches to 0.25 inches, with smaller Carnelians interspersed that further enhance Miriam's design. Necklace length is 27.5 inches. BOTSWANA AGATE

Botswana Agate, mined in Africa, is found in a variety of colors – all showing fine and parallel lines in swirling patterns that only nature can create. Some stones are in delicate shades of grey, mauve, peach, taupe and pearly creams. Others are tan, grey black, brown, mahogany, pink and white. Red Botswana shows bands of red, orange, brown and white. Yellow Botswana displays delicate bands of golden to pale yellow and cream, with a hint of orange. Some of the bands are transparent, allowing a fascinating view inside the structure of the stone. Miriam’s Collection of stones includes all the color varieties.
