DALMATIAN JASPER
Dalmatian Jasper or Spotted Jasper is an opaque natural stone that has a tawny to creamy white-colored base, and a distinct pattern of sporadic black spots similar to the famous fire station dogs. Although Jaspers may be found in a variety of colors and natural patterns, the name Jasper is actually derived from the Greek for spotted stone. It may be that this unusual spotted stone was the first Jasper ever discovered! For some of the creations shown here, Miriam added black agate and sterling silver to complement the flowing designs of the Necklaces.
Dalmatian Jasper & Black Agate Necklace/Pendant
A beautiful black and soft brown spotted Dalmatian Jasper oval focal bead is suspended from a Sterling Silver Bail and a Necklace of Dalmatian Jasper Discs and Nuggets, and Black Agate Rondelles. The focal bead is 2 x 1.5 inches, and the Dalmatian Discs range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches in diameter, and are rounded rather than flat. The Dalmatian Nuggets are 0.75 x 0.5 inches. The Black Agate Rondelles are substantive, measuring 5/8 inches in diameter and approximately 0.5 inches deep. Two Hammered Sterling Silver round beads add a nice accent. The swirling circles on the Sterling Clasp are a perfect accent to the disc-shaped beading.

Dalmatian Jasper & Black Agate Discs & Rondelles Necklace
Hammered Sterling Silver Rounds and Rondelles accent this lovely Necklace, which Miriam designed using a variety of Dalmatian Jasper Discs and Black Agate Rondelles. The interesting irregular shapes of the spots seem to dance around the tawny-to-creamy white background of the discs. The Dalmatian Discs range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches in diameter, and are rounded rather than flat. The Black Agate Rondelles measure 5/8 inches in diameter and approximately 0.5 inches deep.
Like the necklace above, the swirling circles on the Sterling Clasp are a perfect accent to the disc-shaped beading.

The Dalmatian Jasper Discs are 0.25 to 0.5 inches in diameter, and are rounded rather than flat. The Dalmatian Nuggets measure 0.75 inches in length and are 0.25 inches thick.
